System Requirements

Freeway is a web application programmed in PHP, but it is not an application in the usual sense (Windows or Linux). In other words: Freeway is installed on a webserver alongside PHP, and you work with it through a web browser – like Internet Explorer or Firefox – you “run” Freeway on the server.

Webserver

  • Operating System: Unix (eg Linux), Windows or Mac
  • Webserver: Webserver Apache. We strongly recommend a recent release. (Microsoft IIS may not funtion on new releases as we develop primarily on Apache)
  • Middleware: PHP4.3.9 at least. We recommend a fully patched version 5
  • Database, core system: MySQL 4.1.12 at least. We recommend a fully patched version 5
  • Hardware: A normal webserver setup will do, with some modern CPU and at least 256 MB Ram. As with all database-driven applications, more RAM is advisable though.
  • Optional – but recommended – webserver software extras: A PHP-cache (eg. PHP-accelerator / Zend Accelerator, UNIX only)
  • Optional – but recommended  – High-performance setups will want to make use of load-balancing.

Client (user)

  • Recommended: Firefox, Internet Explorer 5+ on Windows.
  • Required: Any graphical browser on any OS (Netscape, IE, Opera, Konqueror on Windows, Unix, Mac)
  • Hardware: Relatively modern computer.

Load Testing

This is an experimental load testing file comprising of a database file with 20,000 products, 2,000 events, 2,000 services and 2,000 subscriptions spread across 10 categories for each of events, products, services, subscriptions. It is to assist testing so you can load your install and load test it.
